THE PROBLEM

Being late or rushed in the morning.

19%

of people are late to work at least once a week.

22%

of Millennials, specifically, are late to work at least once a week.

40%

of organizations claim they have fired someone for being late.

Why are people late or rushed in the morning?

According to a nation-wide survey, the top three reasons people give for being late are due to traffic, over-sleeping,and bad weather.

All three of these reasons can often be prevented with better time management and/or behavioural changes.

How might we improve people’s awareness of time by providing insight into their behavioural patterns?

PRIMARY RESEARCH

What did I learn from my surveys?

In my primary research, I interviewed and surveyed various participants who fit the following criteria:

  • Ages 18-30
  • Recent graduates in the workforce or starting a new career
  • Must have an early schedule, arriving to work before 10am

53%

of survey participants said they were "usually" or "sometimes" late in the morning

100%

of "usually" late participants said it was a behaviour they would like to change about themselves

57%

of all participants indicated that their sleeping habits are the biggest influencers on their morning routines

The top reasons particpants gave for being late in the morning were poor time management and sleeping in.

Routine-insights

Users did not understand the "heat-map" infographic indicating early and late arrival times.

"Data From Your Routines" sounds cold and unfriendly.

Average arrival time is difficult to find.

Routine

Users did not understand why "Add new task" is placed inside the routine.

Users were uncertain about gear at the top right corner.

Users indicated they would like to see the total time needed for tasks.

Task-times

Users were unsure what "+3 mins" meant.

Visuals would help users understand the data much better.

Too much text. Hierarchy and shortened phrases will help.
